Now, we’re all used to Johnny Depp donning crazy wigs, make up and strange costumes but even he, and his makeup artists, would be pushing the boundaries of theatrical makeup creations when he expressed and interest in playing the beleaguered ex-pop sensation Michael Jackson.
Even with his convincing portrayal of Sweeney Todd the Demon barber of Fleet Street and his role of Jack Sparrow the ‘loser’ pirate of the Caribbean, Depp could not possibly pull off the biggest facial disaster in pop history, Michael Jackson!
Rumours that Depp based his character Willy Wonka on Jackson were put to rest when Johnny stated “I have heard that I based Willy Wonka on Michael Jackson before, but no, that was not my plan, I wish I had thought of that though,” to Contactmusic.
The 44-year-old actor has joked he would be willing to portray the reclusive star if the opportunity arose saying ‘there is still time to play him. He might get up to his old tricks again and maybe there will be a TV movie about him!”
