At least Britain can be sure of having one Gold winner at the 2008 Beijing Olympics this month, in the form of singer Sarah Brightman, the voice that has always managed to bring home the gold with a career that has seen her receive over 150 Gold and Platinum awards in 34 countries.
Tomorrow night at 8.00 pm in Beijing, Miss Brightman, 47, will perform at the opening ceremony in front of more than 100,000 spectators attending the Olympic stadium with several billion more watching on their TV’s worldwide.
The opening song has remained a tightly kept secret with Brightman not even appearing at rehearsals for the ceremony along with the Chinese singer, Liu Huan also remaining absent.
It was the Athens’s 2007 World Championship Athletics that last saw the soprano voiced ex wife of Andrew Lloyd Webber performing at an opening ceremony.
Following the opening of the Olympics the singer begins a tour to promote her latest album, Symphony, and kicks off in Mexico workingher way north to Canada and then on to American in November.
