Its looking increasingly like Hollywood may just have forgiven Meg Ryan for her ‘error of judgment’ when she abandoned her actor husband, Dennis Quaid, in favour of her co star, Russell Crowe, in the 2000 movie Proof of Life, a film that was a critical and commercial flop. Not quite the reception Meg had received as the star of previous blockbusters, When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, French Kiss and You’ve Got Mail in which she starred with Tom Hanks.
Ryan’s tarnished reputation saw her relegated to ‘b rate movies such as Hanging Up and Kate & Leopold, both of which were badly received by critics. Along with her career taking a drop in status her paychecks also suffered as prior to her affair with Crowe she had been established as one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood.
But now she’s back with a star studded cast in a Sex and the City style movie, The Women. Along with Annette Bening, Eva Mendes, Candice Bergen and Bette Midler the movie promises to bare a message for women everywhere while putting a smile on the audience’s face.
Meg landed the role of the central character who is a clothing designer and lives in a beautiful country home with her wealthy financier husband and their 11-year-old daughter. Her best friend is the editor of a prominent fashion magazine in New York City. When Mary’s husband becomes involved with a perfume salesgirl in Saks Fifth Avenue, her friends begin to question their loyalty to her because they are unable to tell her the truth about her husband’s affair.
The movie will hit cinema screens in fall 2008.

Initially annoyed by the, 2 hour, late arrival of Mariah Carey to her show, Ellen Degeneres, in her own carefree manner turned the ignorant behaviour of Carey around to her own advantage.
How? By wearing all the ridiculous gifts the over rated song bird brought to the show to celebrate Ellen’s 50th ‘anniversary’.
Don’t we just love Ellen and despise the wicked witch of the East?
Ellen hosted a party Saturday night which included 600 well-wishers which included Janet Jackson, Tom Hanks, Allison Janney, Ray Romano, Joely Fisher, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale, Paris Hilton and sister Nicky Hilton with their boyfriends Benji Madden and David Katzenberg and, of course, DeGeneres’ girlfriend, Portia de Rossi.
Pink was in attendance to perform three acoustic numbers, including Janis Joplin’s Me and Bobby McGee.
Ellen’s party was not televised but she did air small snippets during her show on Monday.
