Initially annoyed by the, 2 hour, late arrival of Mariah Carey to her show, Ellen Degeneres, in her own carefree manner turned the ignorant behaviour of Carey around to her own advantage.
How? By wearing all the ridiculous gifts the over rated song bird brought to the show to celebrate Ellen’s 50th ‘anniversary’.
Don’t we just love Ellen and despise the wicked witch of the East?
Ellen hosted a party Saturday night which included 600 well-wishers which included Janet Jackson, Tom Hanks, Allison Janney, Ray Romano, Joely Fisher, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale, Paris Hilton and sister Nicky Hilton with their boyfriends Benji Madden and David Katzenberg and, of course, DeGeneres’ girlfriend, Portia de Rossi.
Pink was in attendance to perform three acoustic numbers, including Janis Joplin’s Me and Bobby McGee.
Ellen’s party was not televised but she did air small snippets during her show on Monday.

Has anyone seen the Empire State Building with its top 33 floors lit up, peach, purple and cream before? No!
Has any female performer ever had 18 number ones on Billboard before? No!
Then put the two together and there’s the answer!
This weekend, upon questioning various people in Manhattan, I was reliably informed, the ESB was regally lit in purple to celebrate the achievement made by New York’s own diva Mariah Carey, who this week took over the number one spot with Touch My Body
Which has been taken from her latest album, Touch My Body from her latest album, E=MC².
The record for the most number one positions was previously held by Elvis Presley who found himself there 17 times and by The Beatles who had 21 number one singles and still hold the title as men and as a group.

We’re approaching that season again, Academy Awards, Golden Globes, Glam Celebrity Award Winners, Rear of the Year Awards etc. etc. etc! But what we really love to see is our ‘favourite’ celebs being awarded the ‘not so sought after awards’ as offered by Mr Richard Blackwell.
Mr Blackwell has been observing the ‘casually’ dressed celebrities since 1960 and has turned his awards into a much anticipated annual event.
Although 2007 was an ‘annus horribilis’ for Britney Spears, Blackwell was gracious enough to leave her out of his awards saying, “I felt that it was inappropriate at this time to make comment, when her personal life is in such upheaval. I hope 2008 is a better year for her.”
But his magnanimity was all spent when he selected Victoria Beckham as the winner of his ‘worst dressed celebrity’ of 2007 award.
For someone known to never pass a reflective surface without pouting at herself and stopping to apply a 6 inch coating of lip gloss, Victoria Beckham certainly doesn’t concentrate on anything below the chin line according to Blackwell.
With many of the fashion wearing disasters hanging out in packs these days, Mr Blackwell’s job has become increasingly easier of late, and with the obvious ‘classless’ moments caught so often on film, i.e., an underwear-less Britney or Paris the job must be almost enjoyable for such an old goat!
The dedicated follower of fashionless divas has also named a select group of famous, less than flawless celebrities who need a trip to a make over morning show on HBO or TBS or whatever!
He sites Britney Spears and Paris Hilton “Two peas in an over-exposed pod.” How hard is it to look great when you’re gorgeous, blonde and rich?
Camilla Parker-Bowles is labeled “Duchess of Dowdy,”
Lindsay Lohan as the perpetual teenyboppers.
Christina Aguilera “All crass and no class.”
Mariah Carey loses points for ill-fitting garments and frumpy ‘dos an calls he the fashion pariah.
Paula Abdul the” fallen fashion idol.”
Sharon Stone he likened her to Cruella deVille.
Tori Spelling, refers to her style as “Down and Out in Beverly Hills.”
Sandra Oh “layered lunacy’ in a Vera Wang dress.
Meryl Streep very “mother-of-the-bride” when she could be more “The Devil Wears Prada.”
Blackwell does see some good in the fashion wearing celebs of Hollywood naming his top ten of best dressed females as, Reese Witherspoon, Jemima Khan, Beyonce, Angelina Jolie, Helen Mirren, Nicole Kidman, Katie Holmes, Kate Middleton, Katherine Heigl and Cate Blanchett.
