“Breakaway” songbird Kelly Clarkson - who recently headlined a tour with Reba McEntire - had a bit of an anxiety attack last week after four new unfinished tunes fell victim to an Internet leak.
Apparently the demos “Close Your Eyes,” “One Day,” “With a Little Bit of Luck” and “Ready” circulated around music blog Pretty Much Amazing! for several days before finally being pulled on Monday morning.
“The fact that people have heard music that’s not ready yet sucks,” the 25-year-old Grammy winner told Billboard. “But I hope they like it.”
“I write all the time,” she added. “Lots of stuff not meant to ever be released, just working on ideas.”
Although some of Kelly’s fans refused to listen out of respect for her privacy, others who decided to preview the songs were pleasantly surprised. One admirer even said “They sound pretty damn good! Excited for this ‘pop’ album of hers.”
Unfortunately not everyone was as impressed with the new material; a music critic from Culture Vulture magazine heavily dissed the track “With a Little Bit of Luck.”
“This track will need more than a little bit of luck to put Clarkson back on top of the charts (more like a million dollars’ worth of production and engineering), but the melody’s not bad. We like it.”
Not to worry fans, with her talent and unwavering enthusiasm Kelly will be bouncing back in no time.
