Initially annoyed by the, 2 hour, late arrival of Mariah Carey to her show, Ellen Degeneres, in her own carefree manner turned the ignorant behaviour of Carey around to her own advantage.

How? By wearing all the ridiculous gifts the over rated song bird brought to the show to celebrate Ellen’s 50^th ‘anniversary’.

Don’t we just love Ellen and despise the wicked witch of the East?

Ellen hosted a party Saturday night which included 600 well-wishers which included Janet Jackson, Tom Hanks, Allison Janney, Ray Romano, Joely Fisher, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale, Paris Hilton and sister Nicky Hilton with their boyfriends Benji Madden and David Katzenberg and, of course, DeGeneres’ girlfriend, Portia de Rossi.

Pink was in attendance to perform three acoustic numbers, including Janis Joplin’s Me and Bobby McGee.

Ellen’s party was not televised but she did air small snippets during her show on Monday.

La Toya Jackson may not agree with brother Michael Jackson on many issues, as was demonstrated when in 1993 she states she could not remain a “silent collaborator” in her brother’s “crimes against small, innocent children”. But it would now appear her penchant for another of Michael’s favourite pastimes, pumping plastic into his face, is something La Toya doesn’t dismiss as a crime!

At 51 years of age, La Toya has embarked on a mission to turn back the hands of time by undergoing endless hours under the scalpal. But someone should tell he that she is merely turning herself into a withered old hag who resembles a downtown Los Angeles streetwalker.

Is this all in the hopes of reviving her, all but dead, musical career? With the release of her album Startin’ Over having been postponed indefinitely Ms Jackson is obviously searching for a new angle on getting attention in the media.

Well, after reading all the articles on the annual Costume Institute Ball in Manhattan, affectionately known as the “Oscars of the East”, it became apparent that, Victoria Beckham, one of the most photographed women in the world, married to one of the hunkiest sportsmen in the world, David Beckham, with one of the biggest bank accounts in the world, with three healthy happy children and living in one of her many homes around the world, positioned in the up market area of Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, (stop for breath here) never smiles!

Even stood with two of Hollywood’s biggest celebrities, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes and out on the town with David, no smile was about to make an escape from her pouty lips!

Trawling through Google images, magazines, on-line newspapers and videos, it appears that probably only one in every twenty shots shows the ex Spice Girl breaking away from that unattractive pout and vaguely smiling at the cameras.

Then digging a little deeper and finally discovering a photograph of Posh Spice giving it her best, the penny dropped.

She looks bl****y awful when she smiles, infact, she is reminiscent of the cavemen on the Geico advert. So go ahead Posh, keep that smile well under wraps, for everyone’s sake!

David appears to have changed his shopping habits from Rodeo Drive to Marks and Spencer as he sits on Oprah Winfrey’s couch wearing a dull maroon knitted cardy and an unlatching black tie. Golden Balls is smiling admiringly at Posh Spice as she takes on a transformation that sees her looking more like the 1950’s Audrey Hepburn as she appeared in Breakfast at Tiffany’s than the clothes horse we know her to be.

Has their friendship with the Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes had a bigger effect on them than anyone knows? Does Scientology have its own ‘uniform’ like the polygamy wives in Utah?

The Beckhams were appearing on Oprah in a special edition of her show which celebrated Tom Cruise’s 25^th year in the movies.

Paying tribute to their celebrity friend, the couple revealed how they once did the conga through a Spanish restaurant with Tom and his wife Katie Holmes. Other pre-recorded tributes came from Renee Zellweger, who starred with him in Jerry Maguire, Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith, and Jamie Foxx, who appeared with Cruise in Collateral.

Henry Hager is all set to infiltrate the Bush family this coming Saturday when he says, ‘I do’ to Jenna Bush, the 26 year old daughter of George W Bush and First Lady, Laura Bush.

Jenna, who is one half of a twin, with Barbara being the other half, will marry Hager, son of the head of the Republican Party in Virginia, in a private family affair at the Bush’s 1,600-acre ranch in Crawford, Texas, near a lake at the ranch, in front of a giant cross made of Texas limestone that will serve as an altar.

Of course, a small family affair to the Bush’s actually means 200 guests and family members and 14 attendants for the bride where Barbara is said to be he maid of honour and Jenna will be wearing an Oscar de la Renta gown with a short train.

Jenna met Henry during her father’s 2004 re-election campaign and he proposed to her in August 2007 while the pair were on a hiking holiday on Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park in Maine when he popped the question with a diamond which had been reset in a ring that also features sapphires. The original ring was a Hager family heirloom.

Hager graduated from Wake Forest University and worked as an aide to Bush’s former top political adviser Karl Rove is set to receive a master’s degree in business administration later this month from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. His 30^th birthday falls the day before the wedding.

When asked earlier this year about his part in the wedding plans, George W Bush said jokingly: “I had to face some very difficult spending decisions, and I’ve had to conduct sensitive diplomacy. That’s called planning for a wedding.” Maybe he should have shown some of those skills when overseeing the national budget!

The location comes as somewhat of a disappointment to her mother, Laura, who admits that she half hoped Jenna and Hager, whom she calls “soul mates,” would get married at the White House. But Jenna said she was raised in Texas and having a White House wedding just wasn’t her style.

“It means a lot to Henry and me to be outdoors,” Jenna said in an interview with Vogue magazine. “We wanted something organic and low-key.

“There’s a glamour to it, I know,” she said of White House ceremonies. “But Henry and I are far less glamorous than the White House.”

Think of a romantic, handsome, versatile actor and somewhere in there would be Australian born Hugh Jackman, always the gentleman, as seen in Woody Allen’s Scoop with Scarlett Johansson and the romantic love interest of Meg Ryan in Kate and Leopold.

So to see him in the murdering role of Jamie Getz/Wyatt Bose in Deception comes as a bit of a shock only causing a girl’s pulse to beat faster with fright rather than passion!

Hugh, in this manipulating tantalizing role, is teamed up with Michelle Williams (partner of the deceased Heath Ledger) whom he takes from a street corner call girl to a pawn in his intriguing plot to secure $20 million from the bank account of a deceased millionaire associate.

William’s role is initially hard to read and comes across as slightly bland, along with the character of Jonathan McQuarry played by Ewan McGreger. Jonathan is an accountant who is befriended by Jackman who brings excitement to his otherwise boring life when he introduces him to a sex club known as The List. As the plot unravels Michelle, as ‘S’ becomes a deeper character than the movie first suggests.

Eventually, we are taken to a conclusion that is meant to be exotic, sexual and finally explains some of the strange camera shots of a leaky pipe along the way!

The last few moments of the movie, filmed in a park in Madrid, leave the cinema-goer with several unanswered questions, such as, where the hell is the $20 million?
